UB Names Andrea Costantino, PhD, Director of Campus Living
The University at Buffalo's Division of Student Affairs announced that it has named Andrea Costantino, PhD, as its new Director of Campus Living.
In this role she is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to UB's campus housing program. UB is home to about 7,500 student residents living in 13 residence halls and five apartment complexes.
Dr. Costantino holds three degrees from UB including a bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and Political Science ('92), as well as a master's ('93) and PhD in Higher Education Administration ('00).
She has been employed at UB for 20 years, gaining experience in a wide range of student services. She rose through the ranks in UB Student Affairs, ultimately serving as Director of Student Life for 10 years where she managed a $2.5 million budget and served as liaison to UB student groups and governments. In this role she expanded UB's offerings of student activities to more than 300 each year, many of which enhanced student engagement in leadership, volunteering, diversity and UB pride.
As an adjunct professor in UB's Graduate School of Education, she continues to teach new student affairs professionals. In addition, she remains an active and valuable participant in many operational committees and boards at UB, ranging from the Faculty Student Association, search committees, sustainability committees and more.
Active in professional organizations, she has held leadership and programming roles Association of College Unions International (ACUI) and the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).
UB has recognized her contributions by awarding her the Chancellors Award for Excellence in Service (2008), Service Excellence Award (2002 and 2005). ACUI awarded her its Edgar Whiting Award for Exemplary Service in 2009.
"Andrea has been a tireless UB advocate for years," said Barbara J. Ricotta, UB's Associate Vice President for Student Affairs. "She is well-known at UB for her intelligence, creativity and support for students and the university as a whole. We are excited that she will remain a part of our team."
